Trout Fishing Hooks
Trout hooks when used in river fishing with bait such as roe or worms or even yarn flies will in most situations make up the smallest of all hook groups relative to their size and the reasons are two fold. Firstly it has a lot to do with the impeccable vision that the trout and salmon possess and secondly the size of the bait you will be using. The bait size should be the determining factor when selecting your hook.
The most common sizes when fishing roe would be 12,14,16 and 18 under extremely clear water conditions. Hook style is also important and personal confidence is a determining factor for many anglers… whether it is an octopus, egg, nymph or sedge style each have their slight variances that can make all the difference in the world. The best advice I can give is to try a few and figure out which one works best for you.
