Bass hooks probably have the greatest range of styles and sizes due to the variety of techniques and baits made for the species. Texas rigging hooks involve a unique bend that allows the angler the ability to rig their soft plastics weedless. Hook size selection should be 35 to 50 percent of the size of the bait to be most effective. The most common size for bass fishing is a 3/0 hook which will cover a good amount of soft plastic baits in the 3.5 to 6 inch size range and the bigger the baits, the bigger the hook should be. Just about every style of bait has a style of hook specifically designed to improve it’s effectiveness and here are a few examples…

Worm, Senko, Lizard – Texas Rigging Hook
Flipping Tube – EWG Rigging Hook (Extra Wide Gap)
Swimbaits – EWG Oversized with Screw Lock Keeper (weighted or un-weighted)
Craws and Creature baits – Straight Shank Worm Hook
